Verdict

Despite being flat out to score last time EZDEYAAD might still have more to offer so he gets the call marginally ahead of Cornus while Poppets Lovin has a chance on her return. That score for the pick was just his third run of the season and continued a progressive run of form. He'll have to show more again under a 6lbs penalty but he was up late in the day for that score so might be better value for the win than the margin suggests. Cornus has been on the go for sometime now and the danger is the pick will improve past him this season. That said he only just missed out on a hat-trick last time and off the same handicap mark looks to be a live contender. Poppets Lovein has only been beaten the once over this trip in three starts and although she was well beaten on her last run this looks easier and this pairing of jockey and trainer have had plenty of success recently. Smalljohn is nothing if not consistent and looks good in the handicap now just a pound above his last winning rating but the feeling that Ezdeyaad has more to come after a handful of starts this terms.
