Verdict
If turning out, Whispering Death can prove too strong for Darghan, with Power Glory and Sovereign State worth a mention at least. Whispering Death was down to run at Redcar on Friday, a race in which he had a leading chance. Depending on the outcome there, Willie Haggas's charge may line up here, and if doing so should certainly be in the shake-up with his stamina not in question. Darghan has topweight to overcome but on the evidence of his narrow defeat by today's opponent Mustang Ali at Carlisle, he will go close on these terms. Power Glory opened his account in a lowly seller at Beverley but has not had too much racing and could easily improve to figure, while Sovereign State needs to recapture his earlier form but could also take a hand if doing so. Notte Italiana may be running on at the finish, but if turning out, we prefer the claims of fellow Newmarket raider Whispering Death.
