In depth

Verdict

Compton's Eleven gets the vote here with Saristar and Shank on Fourteen the other main protagonists. The selection is a confident choice and although he has been well beaten on each of his last two starts, he was running in much better company than this. He has been running over an extra furlong of late, but has won at this trip and is well regarded by the Mick Channon yard. Saristar is the one likely to give our selection the most to do and she won well on the all-weather track at Southwell last time. Connections believe she will improve on turf and she has good place claims here. Shank on Fourteen was behind Saristar in that Southwell race and there is no reason to suggest he can reverse the placings here. But he rarely runs a bad race so has to be respected. Handsome Cross looks to be the best of the rest and he could be interesting if he is supported in the market, but we are confident that Compton's Eleven will prove too good for his rivals.
