Verdict

A decent prize for the track has drawn a competitive field and LOST SOLDIER THREE has a great opportunity to get back to winning ways, while Wicked Daze and Pevensey can go close. The selection has slid in the weights after five successive defeats this season, and he now races from a mark 4lbs lower than that which he won this race from 12 months ago. Fast ground suits and he has the look of one laid out for a repeat. Wicked Daze relishes fast ground and a test of stamina and is fully a stone lower than when he scored over two miles at Ascot last summer. He showed signs of a return to form at Goodwood last time and although this trip looks his minimum these days, he is respected. Irish raider Royal Entourage has won his last two, over trips of 7f and two miles, so this is definitely within his compass and although it is hard to assess how good he really is compared to his mark, the market may be our best guide. High Ambition should get very competitive from this mark and has his optimum trip to boot, while Inspector Clouseau won here last time and has gone close from today's rating before. Embsay Crag is not certain to get home over this far but is worth another try, though preference is for Lost Solider Three.
