In depth
Verdict
A very competitive nursery with many in with a shout, however we have cut it down to three, Laconicos, Jane Jubilee and Canary Dancer, with the last named given the nod. Pat Haslam's filly produced her best effort to date when chasing home Clive Brittain's Extreme Beauty at Pontefract last time. That winner has subsequently performed with credit at Royal Ascot and in the Cherry Hinton at Newmarket so the form looks rock solid. Laconicos hails from the powerful David Loder yard and has shown plenty of ability in minor events. He has to shoulder top-weight, but against this opposition he looks one of the main players. Jane Jubilee is going the right way and did well to finish a clear second to a smart Mick Channon juvenile last time. She seemed suited by the step up to this trip and can go close today. Down at the bottom of the handicap Jay and Itsa Monkey can make their presence felt, but Canary Dancer looks on a fair mark and is taken to land the spoils.
