In depth

Verdict

Battalion has every chance on these terms having scored at Lingfield in December. But SANDRO BOTTICELLI (NAP) won the Doncaster Shield on his reappearance and having won a maiden for Ballydoyle last year, John Ryan's new charge could prove a bargain buy at 14,000gns as he beat the 102-rated Chancery with any amount in hand on Turf Moor and Frankie stays loyal for this. Sound Of Freedom just missed out in a Group 1 in Italy in October and debuts for Marco Botti while the lightly-raced Listed winner Restorer steps up in trip after a fourth at Kempton. Dartmouth went close in Listed company at the latter track in November and is preferred to Blue Surf.
