In depth

Royal Family has little chance in this company while King Power is on something of a recovery mission. Well beaten in the Oaks Trial at Lingfield before struggling in the Italian Oaks back in June, Andrew Balding’s Frankel filly will likely improve for this extra distance but that can also be said of FLY THE FLAG. The Gosden filly was doing her best work at the finish over 1m2f at Windsor last time and the half-sister to stablemate and Group 1 winner Coronet gets the vote in this.

Fly The Flag 7-1 (9-0) Slowly into stride, soon off the pace mid-division, pushed along over 4f out, hung badly left from over 2f out, plugged on in 4th inside final furlong, eased when held close home, 4th of 12, 4 3/4l behind Dubai Future (9-5) at Windsor 1m 2f mdn stks (5) gf in Jul.

King Power (8-11) 10th of 11, 14 1/4l behind Lamaire (8-11) at San Siro 1m 3f Grp 2 fll stks gs in Jun.

Royal Family (FR) 33-1 (8-11) Held up, always behind, 6th of 10, 21 1/2l behind Expressionism (8-11) at Kempton 1m 4f fll stks (3) pol in Aug.
