FIRST FANDANGO ran a personal best after finishing third last time out and is given the vote to break his maiden tag at the expense of Istidlaal and Retrato. The selection was only given a quiet start to his career last season and showed a massive amount of improvement on form on his seasonal reappearance. He looks the sort to progress and with further improvement to come he will be difficult to oppose. Istidlaal was only seen the once last season when finishing down the field in a Newmarket maiden. He comes from the all conquering Sir Michael Stoute stable and is sure to have been well prepared for his seasonal reappearance so any market moves should be noted. Retrato ran third at big odds on her only start as a two year old showing plenty of promise in the process. That form suggests she will be good enough to win a race of this calibre but she may have to settle for place prize money this time around. First Fandango looks the pick on paper and gains the vote.
