In depth

Verdict

Plenty of once raced performers here so improvement should be forthcoming from most of them and so our tentative choice is Definite Edge, The Apprentice and Cilla Black could be the main rivals. The Paul Nicholls trained gelding was thought good enough to make his debut in a Grade two contest at Newbury and didn't run too badly. He wasn't given a hard time in finishing sixth of ten. This is a big drop in class and he should go very close. The Apprentice is from a yard that often pops up with a decent bumper horse and this one did run well behind Evelith Echo at Kempton in February. The experience will have done him the world of good and he looks a player this afternoon. Cilla Black ran well last time out despite being very keen and if learning to settle she should get involved today. Many others, including Punjabi Army, could take a hand in the finish here, but we will just side with Definite Edge.
