Verdict

Patavellian won this race last year but there is unlikely to be anything of his quality in the line-up today. That said, the winner is in there somewhere and our shortlist consists of Spindor, Brevity, Mobo-Baco, Compton Earl and Revolve, with Mobo-Baco getting the nod. Spindor is lightly raced and from a canny yard and could go well even though his win came in a seller. Brevity has a solid chance on old form but is not quite the same force now. Mobo-Baco is back on a winning mark, having won at Bath in July. Compton Earl won an Ayr maiden last time and, while the form is nothing out of the ordinary, he might be up to some improvement. Of the others, Rileys Dream is back on a winning mark too, while Revolve is also lightly raced and open to improvement. However, in a far-from-straightforward contest, we'll stick with Mobo-Baco.
