      Verdict

      LAURELDEAN SPIRIT can land the opener at the main expense of Lilyannabanana and Medicinal Compound. The selection spoilt her chance when she pulled too hard at Goodwood last time but she is well regarded and she had run well on her debut at York. If she can recapture that form here then it should be good enough to see her shed her maiden tag. Lilyannabanana showed dramatic improvement last time at Ayr when she chased home Hold On Tiger on soft ground. She had previously been very disappointing on fast ground and under today's conditions she is one to have reservations about. Medicinal Compound showed some promise on his debut at Thirsk but that was over a mile and he is not bred to suited by this sharp 7f. Kumbeshwar wasn't disgraced here last month and he does have the plum draw today. He can go well at a price, but it will be a surprise if Laureldean Spirit is not good enough to see off her rivals today.
