In depth

Verdict

Aesthete was a shade keen on his reappearance at Salisbury but didn’t do a lot wrong. He’ll be fancied to go one better here but has been done no favours by the draw and may lack the scope of SUNSET SALUTE. A cosy winner from the front over track and trip four weeks ago, Andrew Balding’s gelding has a penalty to carry but William Cox takes off a handy 3lb. Bill Peyto also has 7lb extra to shoulder having won at Kempton in December but he will have appreciated recent rain. Duchess Rose, a half-sister to three winners, is a likely improver and looks best of the rest.
