Verdict

An interesting little race to open the card that can go to Straw Poll, who handled the firm ground well enough at Chepstow last to suggest that today's predicted going should not be a problem for him. Lady Piste and Miss Mytton are becoming exposed so a bigger threat could be posed by the once raced Mrs Moh. However, Straw Poll, whose dam won the Coronation Stakes, has been patiently brought along by his shrewd trainer, and he should have enough pace to overcome the worst of the draw in this company. He has indicated that further will suit him in time, but can use this as a confidence booster before going on to better things.
