Verdict
A tricky opening race for punters, with question marks about virtually all of the contenders, but we just prefer Sundawn lady to get the better of Gebora, Pougatcheva and Anzal. The selection has only had the four starts over hurdles, and led for a long way on her handicap debut at Wincanton before fading from two out. She is entitled to come on for that, the drop in trip should suit and she looks good for a place at least. Gebora won at Exeter last month, but has been somewhat disappointing since then, and Martin Pipe's runner jumped very poorly when fourth at Stratford last time. Pougatcheva got off the mark on heavy ground at Uttoxeter last month but disappointed on fast ground on her only run since, and may need a deluge to show her best form here. One who won't mind the ground is Anzal, an easy winner at Exeter before disappointing when fifth at Fontwell last time. He seems to be an inconsistent type, although good enough to win this on his best form, but Sundawn Lady is likely to provide the best value here and she gets the vote.
