Verdict
These races are rarely a good betting medium, but Magical Wonderland scored well enough on his debut and is taken to follow up despite his penalty, although there are one or two interesting newcomers on show. The pick of the debutantes are Paul Webber's Debatable and Philip Hobbs' Pernickety King, and the market may prove a guide as to their relative chances. Stanway, See More Jock, and Herecomespapin all finished second on their debuts, but the former was on soft ground and the latter, who was backed from 12/1 down to 5/1 at Southwell is just preferred. However, the more solid form goes to Magical Wonderland, who scored by a length and a quarter from Marshy's Mia at Hereford on her racecourse debut, looks capable of better still and is fancied to confirm the form on seven pounds worse terms.
