In depth
Verdict
A poor race in the context of what is a pretty decent card; Dante's Battle and Zurs are the pick on official ratings but both come here in wretched form, so Sir Walter just gets the nod ahead of Governor Daniel. The latter is generally a consistent sort in this grade, and was a game winner of a claimer at Newton Abbot at the beginning of the month but was then pulled up over fences on his only subsequent start. He is likely to fare better here, but may struggle to concede a stone to Sir Walter. The latter has been running in better company this season, and was not beaten far when fourth in a course and distance handicap last month. This drop in grade should help him out and he looks the safest option here.
