In depth

Verdict

Lunastar had been running well at Dundalk before beaten a short-head in a Leopardstown handicap so would have an obvious chance if turning out here but was engaged in the 2.20 at Fairyhouse yesterday. Island Mahee, who stepped up to 2m4f to score comfortably at Musselburgh, was first reserve in that Fairyhouse event. Hazran had been chasing without much luck before reverting to hurdles with a very good run at Navan while Silk Worm has been in decent form on ground heavier than ideal. Toms Courage lost his maiden tag with a comfortable victory at Thurles but had earlier been pulled up in the race won by QUARRY LIL (NAP) at Clonmel. The latter completed a double on that track in such impressive fashion that she's been raised 10lb though a hat-trick beckons.
