Verdict
Only one favourite has been successful since 1999 so punters beware. Marias Dream was successful from 5lbs lower a year ago and the her form figures suggest otherwise she hasn't been running badly and Kieren Fallon is an interesting booking. Mark Johnston sends SEA LORD from Yorkshire with Frankie Dettori on board and the combination can return home successful. A progressive type with victories at Wolverhampton and Doncaster to his credit, he didn't have the best of runs at Royal Ascot and can do better. Money Trader caused a surprise when beating Mujaazef at Leopardstown but a 9lbs rise won't aid his cause in such a competitive event. Johnny Murtagh has forged a productive association with Charminamix and the pair are on a hat-trick after victories at Dundalk and Leopardstown though he's now on a highest-ever mark in a 30-race career. He should still go well, however, and can again take care of Lord Kenmare, runner-up in the latest of those races, depite the revised weights being in favour of the latter. Royal Astonomer was a long way behind at Leopardstown but that was his first start since September and he made massive progress to score on a return visit though that was over 1m2f.
