Verdict

SAXON WARRIOR, who looked such a class act when landing the 2000 Guineas, can't have been right at Epsom where he was a major disappointment. Perhaps the track didn't suit or the slight interference he met affected him more than originally thought but he gets another chance to prove himself worthy of following in the footsteps of some of the great Ballydoyle winners of this. Dee Ex Bee will take advantage if the selection doesn't come up to scratch again as he ran a superb race at Epsom, staying on strongly all the way up the straight to snatch second. His rider will ensure there's no hanging around and he looks nailed-on for a place at least. Old Persian and Rostropovich make quick reappearances after their 1-2 in the King Edward VII Stakes but, though the former is undoubtedly improving, this looks a step too far. Delano Roosevelt was unsuited by what was a messy race that day and the Derby sixth is expected to do much better. Knight To Behold, the Lingfield Derby Trial winner, led to 3f out at Epsom but was soon done with while Platinum Warrior's victory over Latrobe in the Gallinule doesn't look good enough.
