In depth

Verdict

Assuming that the ground doesn't slow at all, ARTEUS is taken to get off the mark at the main expense of Kloof, French Applause and Navajo Nation. With an official rating of 77, the selection sets a decent standard for most of the field to aim at. He likes quick ground and a repeat of his recent second to Desire To Excel at Leicester may be good enough to take this. Also rated 77 is Kloof who is also a recent runner-up. He seemed to show improved form last time and representing strong connections he needs respect. Navajo Nation has his third start today; put away after a good third to the very smart Glass Harmonium, it would be no surprise to see him run well if the market agrees. Newcomer Primaeval is a likely newcomer on breeding but he represents a yard who certainly don't rush their horses. French Applause has shown plenty of ability, including a fine second to Mutawareth in a good York maiden back in June. Sams Lass was well-fancied last time out (started 100/30) but unseated her rider at the start and this looks a better race regardless, so we will return to Arteus as the selection.
