Verdict
Another competitive contest to bring the curtain down on day three and OPERA GAL can take it. Andrew Balding's filly has a decent chance at these weights despite having proved tricky to win with. Her sole success came in a Warwick maiden on fast ground in July and she has raced beyond this trip for most of the season. However, her style suggests that she could get them on the stretch from the front and she can act with cut, so we'll side with her. Bonfire Knight looks like an each-way banker based on recent evidence. He goes very well over this trip but just can't seem to find an extra gear. He should handle the ground. Pendragon has made the frame on softer going but is better when it is fast. Even so, he is entitled to get involved from 4lbs higher than his Ascot win. The unexposed Willing Foe could be a sizeable fly-in-the-ointment but probably wants it to dry out. He won a reasonable maiden at the track last time and is much respected, though battle-hardened Opera Gal can call the tune. (Jonathan Doidge)
