In depth

Verdict

Hurricane Lamp hails from a top yard and can land this modest contest from Jackie Jarvis and Just Strong. Alan King's gelding my be a little long in the tooth but showed he still has plenty of enthusiasm for the game when finishing fourth behind Philson Run at Wincanton. He tied up in the closing stages in that contest and will be much more at home over this shorter trip. Jackie Jarvis put up a marvellous performance at Fakenham last March, beating easily Bering Gifts after giving away 20 lengths at the start, he looks the main threat to the selection. Of the others Just Strong landed a weak handicap at Sedgefield in October, and although better over longer distances, could still take a hand in the finish here. The rest appear a very moderate bunch so it looks to concern the three mentioned, with Hurricane Lamp getting the decision
