In depth
Verdict
Paul Blockley won this 12 months ago with Red Power and with Windy Prospect having had the benefit of an outing at Lingfield on Saturday he will be a popular choice to follow up for the stable but, at the likely odds, we would rather looks elsewhere and give our vote to Westbrook Blue, who gets the verdict over Berham Maldu. Bill Turner, who has a good record here and whose horses have been in good form of late, trains the selection. Related to some speedy types, Westbrook Blue looks worth chancing on his racecourse debut. Mark Wallace has booked Kevin Darley for Berham Maldu, who is a Fraam half-sister to a couple of sprint winners. The stable is more than capable of producing one to win first time out and a market move would be of interest. Nerys Dutfield is another trainer who always warrants respect with her juveniles so Pennestamp, a half-brother to Millienium Princess, is worthy of a mention. Bryan McMahon has won this before and saddles Dance Night, although being related to Gold Cup winner Mr Dinos he may want further. In a race where only one runner has raced previously it goes without saying that the market may give a few clues but we plump for Westbrook Blue to give Bill Turner another winner in this contest.
