Verdict

Top weight Mutafanen opened his account at the fifth time of asking when landing an Ayr nursery in October and will undoubtedly be popular with many here but he has more to do off a 4lb higher mark today and preference is for Coventina, who gets the verdict over Play Master. The last mentioned has only ever raced on the all-weather, winning once from three starts and now makes his first appearance on turf. Nerys Dutfield's Deploy filly In Deep should appreciate the step up in trip, while anything trained by Barry Hills has to be respected so Mrs Pankhurst may be worth a second look. Geoff Wragg's Lochbuie is potentially well treated for his handicap debut and is another worthy of a mention but the vote goes to Coventina. John Dunlop's filly opened her account in a mile Chepstow maiden last August and should be suited by today's longer trip. Her stable does well with this type of handicapper and Coventina looks the one to be on.
