Verdict
Bryan McMahon has a good record at this meeting and looks to have found a suitable opportunity for Local Poet to open his account and is taken to do so at the main expense of the newcomer Bollin Archie and Diamond Shannon. The last mentioned ran with credit when finding just Mouseman too good in a Lingfield seller in September but this represents a step up in class. Tim Easterby's well related debutante Bollin Archie would not need to be anything out of the ordinary to play a hand in the finish but he will need to be useful to beat Local Poet. Bryan McMahon's colt showed a decent level of form in all four starts as a juvenile and a reproduction of his best should suffice. The other newcomer in the field Onyx makes very limited appeal on breeding and, with Blade's Edge seemingly little better than moderate, a bigger threat may come from Hugh Collingridge's Velocitas. However, Local Poet holds solid claims and is impossible to oppose.
