In depth
Verdict
Free Trip gets the vote in the finale with West Country, Go Solo and Titus Salt put forward as the main dangers. The selection steadily improved right throughout last season before disappointing at Newbury on his final outing of the campaign. He will be suited by the step up in trip here and as he could still be open to further improvement he is put forward as they one they all have to beat. Go Solo was a slightly disappointing sixth behind Unavailable on his last run as a 2-year-old, but he has reportedly strengthened up during the winter and he could go well but his best form has come on fast ground and it is debatable how he will cope with this slightly slower surface. Titus Salt will be fit having had a run on the all-weather when third behind Mission Affirmed and could run well at a price as he is well-in on his best form on the all-weather but he has yet to prove he can translate that ability to turf. Of the remainder, West Country is related to a fair sprinter but he has looked very one-paced in his races over this trip and may be one to follow when stepped up in distance, and for the winner we return to Free Trip who should relish the conditions.
