Verdict
Sloane Street showed that he stays three miles when second to Diamond Monroe at Ludlow on Monday but Michael Scudamore's gelding has still to win a race and may again have to settle for minor honours with Red Society getting the vote over Bobanvi. The last mentioned, a winner of a selling handicap at Cartmel in August, showed signs of a return to form when fourth behind Count Tony at Market Rasen earlier this month. However, Red Society holds solid claims and is difficult to oppose. Ferdy Murphy's gelding has finished in the prize-money in each of his last four starts, the last three in handicaps, and remains well enough treated in what looks a weaker contest than his latest start when second to Phar From Frosty at Wetherby. Former inmate Highland Tracker made a winning debut for Mandy Rowland after a near two-and-a-half year absence when scoring at Sedgefield last month and has to be respected but may suffer from the "bounce" factor. Top weight No Picnic is unlikely to have things all his own way and of more interest could be Times Past, who is less exposed than most of his rivals and makes his handicap debut today. Red Society sets a decent standard though and gets the vote.
