In depth

Verdict

Pat Haslam's Kelso novice hurdle winner Positive Profile makes his debut in a handicap and has to be respected but looks to have plenty of weight for what he has achieved and, with Turn Of Phrase not certain to stay the trip, we take a chance with Totally Scottish. The selection should strip fitter for his recent return to action at Kelso over an extended two miles and should improve for the longer distance today. With the stable of Mary Reveley in good form, the seven-year-old makes plenty of appeal at the forecast odds. Turn Of Phrase is also likely to come on for his reappearance effort at Wetherby two weeks ago but has yet to prove his effectiveness over this trip and is best left out of calculations. The Philip Hobbs-trained Just In Time is used to carrying big weights but seems to be in the grip of the handicapper at present and of more interest could be Javelin. The Ian Williams-trained gelding bounced back to form at Wetherby earlier this month and has claims off a 6lb higher mark but we prefer Totally Scottish, who has plenty in his favour.
