Verdict
At first glance, Ichi Beau has an obvious chance if able to reproduce the same form he showed when winning at Aintree last week but the runner-up there disappointed at Ayr on Friday and, with Henrianjames seemingly in the handicapper's grip now, we take a chance with Kety Star. The selection has been given a couple of months off by Venetia Williams but returns fresh now and, if able to show the same sparkle as when winning handicaps at Newton Abbot and Stratford in the summer, has solid claims. The Tinker won a poor race at Ayr last time and has more to do here, while The Kew Tour (runs in the 1:50pm) will give an indication as to the claims of You're Special, having beaten Pat Haslam's horse at Wetherby last month. Henrianjames took advantage of what looked a favourable mark to win a poor race at Market Rasen last week but was well held when turned out again quickly at Wetherby on Wednesday and it will be a surprise if he can win again. Ichi Beau has to be respected but Kety Star makes plenty of appeal at the forecast odds and gets the nod.
