In depth

Verdict

Prevent makes a quick reappearance and is fitted with cheekpieces after his fifth at Leicester on Monday. He has a chance in a race like this and Kannapolis is another for the short-list having stepped up on his reappearance when third to a subsequent winner at Beverley last month. BROTHER MCGONAGALL rattled up a hat-trick on fast ground around this time last year, including this race. It’s taken him a while for him to come down the handicap again but he’s now back on a winning mark and should be cherry-ripe after a couple of runs. Hammer Gun is still very well treated compared to his all-weather rating but Ambient is struggling to get his head in front.
