In depth

The four-year-old filly The Way It Works showed promise on her debut for Lucinda Russell at Perth in April and her allowances will help though the three penalised winners dominate this. VALERIAN BRIDGE has a double penalty to contend with but those who watched him canter all over subsequent winner Bay Sly at Tipperary won't want to miss him, even in this better race. Black Zambezi had obviously been showing plenty at home as he started favourite for his debut at Gowran and stayed on strongly though that didn't look the best of races. Snow Falcon just failed to concede 7lb to Very Much So at Punchestown in April and made a successful reappearance at Fairyhouse earlier this month so he could provide the main threat.

Valerian Bridge (IRE) 1-5fav (12-0) Tracked leader in 2nd, smooth progress to lead over 1f out, soon clear, very easily, won at Tipperary 2m NH flat beating Bay Sly (11-0) by 7l, 5 ran.

Black Zambezi (IRE) 7-4fav (12-0) Mid-division, progress entering straight, ridden into 3rd 2f out, stayed on in 2nd over 1f out, challenged inside final furlong and rider dropped rein, led close home, won at Gowran Park 2m NH flat beating Whiskey No Ice (12-0) by 1/2l, 12 ran.

Snow Falcon (IRE) 8-13fav (11-10) Soon chased leaders at slow pace, 6th early, 5th 6f out, 4th approaching straight, challenged travelling smoothly 2f out, gained narrow lead from 1f out, stayed on well under pressure, won at Fairyhouse 2m NH flat gd beating Marys Choice (11-2) by 3/4l, 11 ran.

Degenerous (IRE) 25-1 (11-7) Mid-division on outer, mistake 4th, no impression 4 out, in rear when pulled up before next, in a race won by Storm Away (11-7) at Down Royal 2m mdn hdl gf in Aug, 10 ran.

Storm Knight (IRE) 100-1 (11-9) Towards rear, no danger and eased from before straight, 15th of 16, well behind Tandem (11-12) at Navan 2m mdn hdl gd in Sep.

Master Vinnie (IRE) Runyon gelding out of Wee Mo.

The Way It Works (IRE) 11-2 (10-0) Held up in rear, headway 4f out, ridden to chase leaders over 1f out, went 3rd inside final furlong, kept on, never reached front pair, 3rd of 12, 4l behind Looking Well (11-3) at Perth 2m NH flat (5) sft in Apr.
