Verdict

Drawn widest of all, BALON D’OR was forced to take the scenic route in the Lily Agnes at Chester but was still only beaten a length-and-a-half, more than two lengths ahead of Myconian. He has fared better with his starting berth here so gets the nod, despite reservations about the extra furlong. Richard Hannon fields a couple of recent winners and Ryan Moore is back on board all-the-way Haydock scorer The Camden Colt, who may be more progressive than Haatem. A case can certainly be made for last month’s Ascot runner-up Valour And Swagger but both of Yorkshire Terrier’s victories have come on the Tapeta at Southwell. Bobsleigh has more to do than at Brighton and the only filly, Maymay, also looks up against it.
