Verdict

Amanda Perrett has won this twice in the past five years and LIFE AND SOUL looks as though he's been primed for number three. A winner at Ascot from just 2lb lower in September, he made a pleasing comeback when attracting support at Newmarket and that will have done him the world of good. Zuider Zee is a typical John Gosden improver who was unfortunate not to finish a lot closer at Ascot on his comeback as he was impeded at a crucial stage. Berling, who looked like winning that event until swerving badly, would be a big threat to all if Eddie Ahern can keep him on the straight and narrow. Both can go close while Bourne, another lightly-raced and improving type, could still prove to be well handicapped despite being 6lb higher than when scoring at Haydock. Aurorian stays further and a strong gallop will play to his strengths.
