Verdict

Course and distance winner Katiypour has returned to form and gets the vote over Adventurist, Most Saucy and Captain Clipper, and Compton Eclipse. Trained locally by in-form Brooke Sanders, Katiypour left David Barron after scoring at Wolverhampton in June and judging by his last two runs here, has fully acclimatised. His debut for the stable was an eyecatching effort, given that he was taking on rivals rated two stone ahead of him on official ratings, and it was no surprise when he landed a handicap over the track and trip under today's pilot Lisa Jones. A rise of four pounds is not harsh, and the six-year-old should make a bold bid to follow up. Adventurist is improving all the time but swished his tail when touched off at Newmarket last time. Nevertheless he can prove troublesome, as can Most-Saucy. Ian Woods' gelding is actually nine pounds better off with Katiypour for a beating of less than three lengths here, but although definitely good enough for a place, we feel that there is more to come from the selection. Captain Clipper has more to do than when landing a Beverley maiden last time but comes from a shrewd stable, while Compton Eclipse has been going up in the weights despite not adding to his Brighton success in June. He obviously handles this type of track though, and is another to consider for place purposes. For win purposes though, it just has to be Katiypour.
