Verdict

Navan Listed winner Pink Dogwood bids to give Ballydoyle a fourth win in five years in this and continue her yard’s domination of the classics this season. She should relish the step up to 1m4f and is easily the pick of her yard’s four runners but quick ground would be a concern and she faces a couple of Gosden-trained fillies who also arrive with strong credentials. Frankie has opted for Lingfield Oaks Trial winner Anapurna leaving Rab Havlin to partner Mehdaayih, who beat Manuela De Vega in the Cheshire Oaks but had a more straightforward passage and is worse off at the weights. William Haggas also runs two but Frankellina still looked green when second in the Musidora and her lack of experience would be a worry starting from stall 14. Stablemate MAQSAD was beaten by Mehdaayih in a Yarmouth maiden last year but has looked a much-improved filly this term and was particularly impressive in the Pretty Polly at Newmarket. There is plenty of stamina in her pedigree and she has the scope to be even better over 1m4f.
