In depth

Verdict

Emtilaak looks the answer to the day's feature event at the Kent track, with Snow Wolf, Tag Team and Tribute seen as the main dangers. Emtilaak appreciated the drop back to six furlongs when opening his account at Pontefract ten days ago, bounding clear from halfway to win a shade cosily by five lengths. It appears as though he has come to hand at just the right time and could be set for a successful summer, so a mark of 78 for his first handicap may turn out to be not at all harsh. Snow Wolf also hit form on his latest engagement a week ago when justifying favouritism at Redcar. He made all that day and if trying similar tactics is there to be pounced on by the selection. Tag Team has paid to follow this year, scoring twice on the Polytrack and more recently when scraping home at Bath. He too adopted forcing tactics and will also be susceptible to Emtilaak's turn of foot at the finish. With Tribute yet to show his true worth this campaign and Ask The Clerk facing a stiffer task than when winning over the course and distance in March, Ben Hanbury's gelding is the one to beat.
