        Verdict

        Maharaat gets the vote over Whitsbury Cross, Lucky Again and Great Gidding in the final race on the card. Sir Michael Stoute, fresh from his exploits at the weekend, saddles Maharaat, a son of Bahri who bids to give a boost to the Wood Ditton form that has not exactly produced too many winners to date. Fifth behind United Nations at Newmarket, he then occupied the same position behind Fine Palette at Lingfield, the soft ground contributing to his defeat that day. This looks a bit easier, and the faster underfoot conditions will help his cause as well. Whitsbury Cross may appreciate the slight step up in trip and this is a drop down in level for him also after his fifth to Madid at Newbury. Lucky Again is bred to stay and should find the faster conditions more amenable than on his last visit to the Kent track. He should be kept in mind when going into handicaps, as should Great Gidding who was not expected to beat New Morning at Leicester. The rest do not make any appeal and Maharaat need only improve a bit to open his account.
