    Verdict

Fizzy Lady has a bit of an absence to overcome but can still account for Waterside, Mandarin Spirit and Spring Jim. Fizzy Lady won with a little bit in hand on the all-weather at Southwell in February, making up for costing her supporters dear in a couple of maidens. Given a break since, she runs here in preference to waiting for a claimer at Chepstow on Friday and has a leading chance. Waterside was fancied at Lingfield 12 days ago when denied the best of runs, but may not have beaten Bells Beach anyway. The move back up to seven furlongs will help his cause though and he can give the selection most to do. Mandarin Spirit was given a positive ride when scoring over the course and distance last September but has failed to trouble the judge since. He has failed to last home lately but would have major claims if reproducing his earlier form. Spring Jim returns from an long break and James Fanshawe's inmates invariably improve for the run, so he is best watched, and so Fizzy Lady, with the form in the bag, is the pick.
