In depth

Verdict

This is a modest affair and Blue Endeavour can get 2005 off to a winning start, with Tilla, Stage Friendly and Roky Star looking best of the rest. The selection was a reasonable fourth behind Penny Pictures at Ludlow last time in a handicap but that was actually a regression from his second to Loup Charter the time before. A return to that latter level of form would stand out here and we are taking the view that he can achieve that. Tilla was a stayer on the Flat, winning from a mark in the 60s, and Stage Friendly showed some promise when third on his Ludlow hurdling debut. Roky Star is another to have bits of form that make him competitive for a place but the others seem to have something to prove at this stage. Once again then, the vote goes to Blue Endeavour.
