In depth

Verdict

Moderate is a kind way of describing this uninspiring handicap chase and we will take Mooresini as a hopeful selection to see off Atlantis, Ballyaahbutt and Iris's Prince. Nick Gifford does well at this, his local track, and Mooresini put up a decent effort in the context of this race when a six length fourth behind Tanzanite Dawn at Towcester in a bog last time. This better ground will help him and as one who jumps soundly he is taken to score. Atlantis was tailed off behind the selection in a race won by Lescar's Lad at Folkestone earlier in the campaign and found it tough here over 2m 4f last time. Nevertheless his form is solid enough to give him a chance here and he is respected. Ballyaahbutt runs from out of the handicap and has plummeted through the weights, so it was no surprise to see him finish much closer last time, but he still has it all to do to win here. Of the remainder Iris's Prince drops in class and could therefore find this much more to his liking than of late. He is respected, but we take Mooresini to come good.
