Verdict

Grade 3 novice hurdle winner Hash Brown started favourite on his chasing bow at Limerick but couldn't get to Sizing Platinum, who looks a decent recruit to the bigger obstacles. Mick Hourigan's charge will have learnt plenty and should again take care of third-placed The Herds Garden. Steps To Freedom has won eight races at all disciplines apart from fences where he's been a beaten favourite in all five starts. It's unlikely he'll ever achieve the sort of form that gave him a Grade 2 victory over timber but he should be winning sooner rather than later. Waaheb won his first three bumpers in 2011 then finished runner-up in the championship race at Punchestown. He did very well over hurdles without fulfilling his potential and the fact that he's turning to fences after a long break is never a problem for one from his yard at this fixture. GUITAR PETE is another with an absence to overcome and he ran a shocker on his latest start over hurdles in October. However, his overall form, including two Grade 1's and a third in last year's Triumph Hurdle, suggest he can go to the top over the bigger obstacles and he's taken to make a successful start.
