In depth

Verdict

Mick Channon's string have been hitting the post all season, but recent indications emitting from West Ilsley have been encouraging enough to grant Digital another chance to end his frustrating sequence of near misses; possibly at the main expense of Material Witness and Kool, who have both been kept busy this term and should also give a good account of themselves today. So too should Camp Commander, who is capable at this level and has finally been granted some leniency by the handicapper. Even so, he does still look a little high in the weights for a horse that has only won two of his 41 previous starts and he may again frustrate win only punters this afternoon. Selective has also been hard to win with and plummeted in the ratings as a result. His recent form does leave a little to be desired though and he will need everything to drop right for him to bounce back this afternoon. Taranaki goes well here and has to be seriously considered. However, he is now 5lb higher than he was for his two length defeat of Material Witness over course and distance in May and also needs everything to fall into place for him to figure at the finish. This is where Digital is likely to be seen at his best in the race and, as he shaped as if on the way back at Chester last week, he could be very good value to finally come good again here.
