Verdict
Unless Charles Cyzer's newcomer Ten Cents proves to be out of the ordinary this should go to Canton, who is preferred to Deeday Bay. The last mentioned made a winning debut at Doncaster before losing no caste in defeat behind Johnny Jumpup at Salisbury. His conqueror last time let the form down subsequently though and that effort may not be as good as it appeared at the time. Last time out course and distance winner Angel Sprints has yet to show that she handles cut in the ground and while she should do so her overall form does not look as good as that of the selection. The maidens Come To Daddy and Pussy Cat do not look good enough so the vote goes to Canton. Richard Hannon's colt ran well under similar conditions when a close third to Nova Tor in a five-furlong Newmarket nursery last time, the longer trip should suit and Kieren Fallon has been booked for the first time. Canton is taken to give weight away all round.
