In depth

Verdict

COOLBANE BOY (NAP) has only had three career starts, falling when there with a chance at Limerick in December then easily landing a Thurles bumper a month later. He looks a nice prospect and can see off a couple of strong rivals. Jon Ess is only six but has run 39 times though five of his six Flat victories have been on the all-weather and he's 0-13 over timber. He ran very well at Limerick last month and should get into contention though Meticulous looks more of a threat. Joseph O'Brien's charge won a bumper on his debut and has raced in much better company than this subsequently with a close second behind Envoi Allen in a Grade 2 bumper at Leopardstown the obvious highlight. He's performed with credit in two starts over hurdles and will be difficult to keep out of the frame. Gallowglass won a bumper in May 2018 and was having his first subsequent run when mid-division at Limerick last month.
