Verdict
With the ground on the soft side, high numbers are likely to be favoured here, so Viewforth gets the vote in a trappy opener, with Peppiatt, Bodfari Pride and Redoubtable others to consider. The selection, one of two in the race trained by Linda Perratt, has shown good speed on all three starts so far this season and can be expected to run well from stall 14. The five-year-old won three times in a row on soft ground here last season, and is now only a pound higher than the last of those wins. Peppiatt cannot be recommended with any great confidence, as he has not won for a long time but he is reasonably treated, has a good draw and will relish these conditions so it would be no surprise to see this nine-year-old run well at a big price. Redoubtable is another old-stager who is on a fair mark and likely to feature prominently from stall 18, while Bodfari Pride tends to do most of his winning in plating company, but this is a seller in all but name and he is in better form than a number of these so could also come into the reckoning.
