      Verdict

      Midnight Tycoon can enhance his reputation by beating Carte Royale, with Selkirk Storm and Katie Boo making for an interesting contest. Thirsk trainer Bryan Smart has a high opinion of Midnight Tycoon who was fully expected to oblige when making a winning debut here in May. He looked like he had been taught the job well and afterwards the Coventry Stakes was mentioned. However he missed Royal Ascot after losing out in a close finish to a decent two-year-old event at Beverley three weeks ago, and hopefully the easier ground here will see him storm back to the form that connections reckon he is capable of. Carte Royale came up against a useful sort in Silver Wraith at Bath and is the main danger, but he will do well to concede five pounds to the selection. Selkirk Storm will be suited by the trip after staying on well over five furlongs at Thirsk but is another that will have a job on, as will Katie Boo from the in-form Alan Berry yard. Midnight Tycoon has a bright future and can pay to follow.
