Verdict
Plenty of the 20 runners hold claims in the opener including Kevin Ryan's twice-placed Monsieur Mirasol, Tim Easterby's pair Artic Fox and Classic Style, plus Mark Johnston's newcomer Heybrook Boy but it might be worth taking a chance with Sound And Vision. The selection is trained by Michael Dods, who has his string in fine fettle at present, and there is the likelihood that the son of Fayruz may step up on previous efforts today. Artic Fox is a speedily bred son of Robellino, who would appear to be well drawn, along with stablemate Classic Style. The last mentioned would need to step up on his debut effort on the all-weather to figure but the stable's juveniles normally improve with experience. Monsieur Mirasol has claims on form but may find life tough from a middle draw, with a berth next to either set of running rails normally an advantage. Of more interest may be the newcomer Heybrook Boy, who is drawn on the other side to the two Easterby runners and hails from a yard that has done well with their two-year-olds this term. David Barron has his string in good from now so Brace of Doves is worthy of a mention while a market move for Davy Crockett would be of interest. However, in a tricky start to the day's proceedings it may be worth taking a chance with Sound And Vision.
