Verdict
The trio of Tandava, Most Definitely and Next Flight are all set to go up in future handicaps so have to be respected but preference is for Best Port, who won with plenty in hand last time and is taken to follow up. The selection made light work of his rivals in a Redcar handicap last month and, with the five-length second Party Ploy having won his next two starts to give the form a solid look to it, Best Port looks well treated off just a 6lb higher mark today. Mary Reveley's The Ring has run well on his last two starts and would not mind any further rain, while Tim Easterby's Most Definitely has found one too good in each of his last six starts and should again be thereabouts. Jim Goldie has his string in fine form at present so Gargoyle Girl has to be respected, along with the three-year-old Considine who may be open to further improvement, especially over this longer trip. The consistent Next Flight, Kempton winner Quedex and course and distance winner Red Sun are others worthy of a mention but the vote goes to Best Port.
