In depth

Verdict

A tough call with Champagne Cracker just preferred over Diamond Katie. A valiant winner at Musselburgh, a few days ago, it is hardly surprising that connections are striking while the iron is hot. She was far from winning out of turn on that occasion and looks to have obvious claims here again. Diamond Katie won a fair race at Sandown on her most recent visit. She looks an out-and-out six furlong performer in our book and while we are reluctant to oppose her, they may get away from her given her poor draw tonight. Karminskey Park is a regular in sprint handicaps but is a regular loser also. Dropped back to five tonight, the small field will suit but more rain would have helped her cause. Baron Rhodes has an eye-catching jockey booking. He is though out-of-form and oddly enough, tonight's draw is not that ideal for what is essentially a hold-up performer. Frascati should show speed while Angelofthenorth's previous run at Haydock is dutifully ignored as she met significant interference at a vital stage. Champagne Cracker is recommended as the win selection.
