    In depth

    Verdict

Brad The Brief won three out of four in his opening campaign culminating in an impressive victory on soft ground at Newmarket. He looks a nice prospect as does GOBI SUNSET, who improved as the season went on. He had almost a length to spare over Byline at Ayr in June and is 1lb better off with the winner. Powertrain couldn't handle soft ground and Class 2 company at Newmarket after completing a double at a lower level but Clareyblue, who showed real promise last summer, reappeared with a facile victory at Newcastle. Queen's Order was elevated into Group 3 and Listed company after scoring at Pontefract but finished last in both.
